How to create a mailbox in cPanel and connect it in Thunderbird, Outlook, Apple Mail or on your phone.

Creating the mailbox
- In cPanel, open Email Accounts.
- Click Create.
- Choose the domain, then enter the mailbox name and a password.
- Set the mailbox size, or set it to unlimited.
Settings for your mail client
Use these values, replacing yourdom.eu with your own domain.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Incoming server (IMAP) | mail.yourdom.eu, port 993, SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing server (SMTP) | mail.yourdom.eu, port 465, SSL/TLS |
| Username | the full e-mail address |
| Password | the mailbox password |
Use IMAP rather than POP3. IMAP keeps the mail on the server, so you see the same thing on your phone and on your computer, and it stays in the backups.
Checking that outgoing mail works
Send yourself a test message to a different address. If it does not arrive, check these in order:
- That authentication on sending (SMTP authentication) is switched on in your client.
- That your SPF, DKIM and DMARC records are set up correctly. Without them some recipients will reject you.
- That you have not exceeded the limit.
Hosting has an hourly limit on messages sent per domain, which depends on your plan - the figures are in Article 4.1 of the Acceptable Use Policy. If you need to send more than that, use a service built for it rather than hosting.
