Restoring from a backup in cPanel
What we back up, how far back, and how to run a restore yourself.

What we back up
On shared hosting we take backups automatically every day and keep the last 14 daily restore points. Files, databases, mailboxes and scheduled tasks (cron) are all included. The backups are encrypted and held on a physically separate server.
We do not back up VPS, Raspberry hosting, hosted apps or dedicated servers. Backing those up is entirely the customer’s responsibility.
Restoring it yourself
- In cPanel, open JetBackup.
- Choose the day you want to go back to.
- Pick the scope: the whole account, files only, or a single database.
- Start the restore and wait for confirmation.
Restores are free and you can run one whenever you like.
Restoring on request
If you are not sure of the scope, write to us. We will run the restore within 24 hours on working days, also free of charge. Tell us the domain, the date you want to go back to, and exactly what needs restoring.
A restore overwrites your current data. If you are not sure whether the problem is in the files or in the database, download the current state first - otherwise you will not be able to get back to it.
What backups do not cover
Backups are a supplementary service provided without warranty and they do not replace your own. Nor are they geographically separate - they sit in the same data centre as production, so they are no protection against the loss of the whole site. For data that genuinely matters to you, keep a copy off our hosting as well.
We back up what keeps your sites, applications and mail running - not whatever you happen to store on the hosting. Archives and backup copies from other systems are not covered by the backups (Article 22.6 of the Terms), so the restore described in this guide does not apply to them either. If you keep that sort of thing on your hosting, expect not to get it back.
